you means on the tag xml? Doctype usually used in html page. Have you accept the new TOS from danbooru?

Happens on both trying to update the tags.xml and just a general "Get" from the main tab. I have accepted the TOS.

weird, the doctype is from the tos page. Somehow danbooru didn't record your ip, try to open the browser, see whether the tos page show up again or not. If it show, accept it and then log in to your danbooru account, and try again.

Is this a browser specific request? I mean, I checked through IE9 and Firefox and I've passed TOS and logged in, but if it's calling old IE or some other browser, the cookie for it may not be where it is expecting.

I think I found why, do you key in you login information? Select danbooru on the provider drop down list, click edit button. key in you username/password and set useAuth = True then press Save -> OK. and try again.

I've tried on another pc where I haven't set the tos and it is working. Also please note for tags.xml from danbooru still have bugs as they just update their site to version 2 and the old api is not fully developed.

Oddly enough, doing that yielded different results ("System Message: " notification), which is I guess better than a crash, but still didn't get a proper display.

that's weird, is possible for you to install fiddler (http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/). It should act as a system proxy, if not try set the proxy in danbooru downloader (usually 127.0.0.1:8888), and see what is the returned page?
