Note that this may be a feature at some point - when you expect a name to expire, you can name_new before it is expired and then name_firstupdate it immediately. Issuing the name_new before expiry puts you ahead of competitors who wait with name_new until the name is actually expired.
I think that it should remain possible to run the command for non-expired names. We can introduce an optional argument that must be set to enable this behaviour, though. What is the consensus on this one?

While I have not used this as a feature I know others do heavily. An optional argument would be ok IMHO.

@domob1812 an optional argument is fine IMO. The default should be to show an error in such cases, but if the user really knows what they're doing, they should be able to override it without changing source code.
