You can get the mapboxGL object using load event:

app.controller('MyController', ['mapboxglMapsData', function (mapboxglMapsData) {
   $scope.$on('mapboxglMap:load', function (event, mapboxglMapEvent) {
      $scope.mapInstance = mapboxglMapsData.getMapById('myMap');
   });
}]);
