It was that way originally, but calling it every time because very tedious, and I have no interest in looking at default matplotlib aesthetics.

ok. i suppose that if people like me want to use functions without having their rcParams messed with, they can just import the specific functions .

Also note the seaborn.reset_defaults()
function, and if you want to submit a PR to address #10 it would be gladly welcomed. Since that's not something I'd ever use, I'm wary to include it unless there are people out there who can be responsible for making sure it's working.
In general I'm very interested it making it easier for people to use their own rc params on top of or instead of the seaborn styles, but I really don't like the solution of matplotlib silently reading matplotlibrc
files that could live in lots of places, because when sharing a notebook on something like nbviewer you totally lose that metadata and end up with non-reproducible plots.
