Out of interest do you remember how many of the non submitted files were
listed under "no mbid", and how many were under "error"? If there were many
under error then maybe this is a more serious bug that needs to be fixed.
It may be a good idea to have more detailed reporting. Because we only log
successes and not failures, this will probably have to wait until #2 is
done.

That would be really useful to sort out failures due to problem in the submission process from failures due to missing mbid!
