I fixed this error on raspberrian by doing:
sudo apt-get install libtool
libtoolize

No. Try commenting fribidi in the build script. I suspect your errors happen when building fribidi, and its build system is usually pretty broken.

Any news on this? I just saw it's still open. We can't do much about it. Maybe we should disable building fribidi in general.

Sorry, I could not get a chance to try it yet.
I temporarily moved into using VLC for the time being on a Raspbian Wheezy installation as had to get some other parts working in priority.
Please give me one or two days and I will confirm with the workaround you suggested. You may close this after 2 days.

fribidi is now disabled by default, so hopefully this error will no longer happen.
