Safari doesn't support responseType 'blob' for XMLHttpRequest. about moxie HOT 4 CLOSED

well, here is a test to see if it works:

var fakeUrl = webkitURL.createObjectURL(new Blob())
var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest();
xhr.open("GET", fakeUrl, false); // make sync call
xhr.responseType = "blob";
xhr.send();
var supportBlobResponse = xhr.responseType == "blob"

Have you actually tried this one and found that Safari has support for blob or is it a suggestion?

Why do you need to actually send the blob to test the responseType? It is usually enough to set the responseType and it either will throw an exception (I guess that's what it should do according to specs) or simply ignore the value.

@jimmywarting, your test succeeds in Safari 6.1, but fails in Safari 6.0.5. Looks like they've fixed it in between the updates.

Anyway... this issue can be safely closed now I think. Thank you for bringing it up :)
