We already added API report type - it should cover this partially.
Regarding the API resource tables - it's more complex since they should follow some common pattern to integrate them into the full-featured motor admin UI (pagination/sorting/filtering/searching) - It's hard to imagine that people will spend time implementing their API according to motor admin specs in order to connect API tables - also it's hard to envision any simpler plug&play solution - so for now DB tables is the best and only approach regarding the data resources.
