IMO, the media library works fairly okay as it is in 0.6.

That's really nice to hear. I see 0.6-beta2 is packaged in Debian's experimental suite, but not included in e.g. Ubuntu 14.10. I guess it needs to get out of beta before we'll see it in "conservative" distributions.

Ah, I wasn't running the latest version. With beta2 it's even better, and I would say it's no problem using it. So I think we can probably close this, unless we want to support 0.5.10 better, or want caching for something else.

Since we've already documented two workarounds that help a lot with 0.5.10 I think we can close this then :-)
