deep-forest-boston's Introduction

deep-forest-boston

This is a repository to track development of a new model for DeepForest, a Python package for predicting tree crowns. Please see the wiki to get a better understanding how we implemeneted Boston Specific DeepForest model by training it over Local data to get better predictions.

The ideal outcome of this project is:

  1. The creation of a new, accurate machine learning model focused on urban tree canopies

  2. The creation of a simple web interface for the Parks Department to upload new aerial imagery for analysis

  3. The ability for the Parks Department of Boston to generate a list of statistics on tree counts to ensure that it continues to plants trees in an equitable manner across the city.

deep-forest-boston's Issues

Project Progress and Contribution

Hello @mlevans ,

I hope this message finds you well. I am Ayush Koli, and I am eager to contribute to the "Web Interface for Urban Tree Canopy Detection Using Satellite and Aerial Imagery" project. After reviewing available repositories, I believe I may have found the appropriate one, but I'm uncertain. Unfortunately, I didn't find any specific repository or forums for this project from GSoC's project list of MONUM.

I have a strong background in training and deploying ML models, proficient in Python, and experienced with Flask/Django. Additionally, I have knowledge in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, React and RestAPI's.

After reviewing the available code and files in this repository, including inside the Jupyter Notebook, directory I believe this is the ML model mentioned in project description that runs on Google Colab, which has proven difficult for staff at the Parks Department to learn, so a simple web interface is needed.

I have a good understanding of the existing codebase and development efforts. To ensure I understand the current state, could you provide insights into the progress made on this project?

If this is not the right place for inquiries, kindly direct me to the appropriate channel. I appreciate your guidance and look forward to contributing effectively to this exciting project.

Thank you for your time and consideration :)
