I made some initial progress but sadly got stuck. if someone wants to attempt this check out the fsdpv2 branch and run with flag --grad-checkpointing. E.g., I'm running
torchrun --nnodes=1 --nproc_per_node=2 train.py --dataset_resampled --batch_size_c4=32 --batch_size_laion=64 --lm_path facebook/opt-125m --train_num_samples_c4 500000 --train_num_samples_laion 1000000 --loss_multiplier_laion 0.2 --workers=8 --run_name test --num_epochs 30 --lr_scheduler constant --warmup_steps 1250 --use_media_placement_augmentation --grad-checkpointing
