@robjhyndman - do you know of a neat way to remove hyperlinks?
For example, in many cases we want to convert \href{mailto:[email protected]}{\nolinkurl{[email protected]}}
to [email protected]
.

This is a pandoc issue. You need to trick pandoc into not processing the email address. It seems to work by burying it one layer deeper in latex code. I've fixed the moderncv issue in cfb0b7a
from vitae.
