What should I do if I want to leave S to surround plugin in visual mode?

from ideavim-sneak.

Mishkun avatar Mishkun commented on May 30, 2024

It also conflicts with surround plugin binding in visual mode

strikerlulu avatar strikerlulu commented on May 30, 2024

Ya S conflicts can't we just use s for forward search ?

Mishkun avatar Mishkun commented on May 30, 2024

@strikerlulu Okay, I'll fix it by enabling s in visual mode and providing instructions on how to change S binding to override surround mode

@dimsuz Didn't you read the previous comments ?
By default you can use S for surround plugin however you can also override it for sneak with the instructions...

Hmm, somehow it didn't work, but now I've tried and it worked 🤷‍♂️

Is this issue resolved? It doesn't work for me, but based on the comments in this thread it seems like maybe it does for other people. I might want to take a crack at it myself if it's not implemented yet.

Visual mode does not work for me. The cursor moves as it should, but the visual selection remains at the point sneak is invoked.

I figured it out eventually, after you've jumped using sneak in visual mode, move the cursor to the left or right(h or l) and then the area will be selected. It is a little annoying but I think it's good enough.

Thanks for chiming in, Piotr. Frankly, if I need to use 1-2 more keys every visual selection, I might as well just stick to / and ? seeing as that's only 4 keys compared to the 5 needed here to jiggle the cursor. I'll stay subscribed to the issue. Hopefully, the author will address this, until then it's not really a viable plugin in my mind.
