the reason i need to access the playlist file is because, ultimately, I need to access all files sequentially. This would be done in a simpler way by downloading files without their artist/album folders. Does freyr have an option for flat downloads? Or is it an option that would be considered? Thanks :)

Yeah it does.
$ freyr get --help

-T, --no-tree don't organise tracks in directory structure `[DIR/]<ARTIST>/<ALBUM>/<TRACK>`
