Hi, You'll need to first set the action bar to overlay, then implement the listener OnInteractionListener included in the library, and then hide the action bar when the sliding layer is opened, then show if its closed.

Set the action bar to overlay before setting any content view. requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_ACTION_BAR_OVERLAY);

then, set the listener like this.
slidingLayer.setOnInteractListener(new OnInteractListener() {

            @Override
            public void onOpened() {
                getSupportActionBar().hide();
            }

            @Override
            public void onOpen() {

            }

            @Override
            public void onClosed() {
                getSupportActionBar().show();
            }

            @Override
            public void onClose() {

            }
        });
