Agree that the VS Code part in the title is redundant. How about "Java Debugger by Microsoft" for title? And "A lightweight Java debugger works with Language Support by Red Hat"?
Would changing extension name impact existing users and require them to re-install?
If not, we should consider include this change in our next patch release.

Changing the name is not a problem in VSCode. It's the id that matters. We just have to update the docs.
If you look at the other extensions in the Marketplace, mentioning the company name in the name is not common. Red Hat is really the exception here. Also we always show the publisher along with name and description.

"Red Hat" in the name of the extension was to distinguish it from the 2 other Java extensions on the marketplace at that time. I guess our Branding people must be happy too :-)

@fbricon But what about starting with 'Java' and remove the (TM). That way it can be found a bit easier and it's easier to reference it from other extensions.

@aeschli I'll defer to @gorkem about that ;-)

@aeschli there are legal restrictions to the use of Java
name so the current Language Support for Java
was the best option. My preference would have been just Java
