👋 Hello There

I'm Michelangelo, and I'm currently a Computer Science Postdoctoral Researcher at Reykjavik University, working on real-world applications of virtual reality and the development of intelligent virtual characters.

🎓 My PhD involved creating the Agora Framework. Think of Agora as a sandbox where human behaviors get broken down into heatmaps. The cooler part? Virtual agents in the simulation use these maps to decide where to go, getting attracted or repelled by areas. It's all about blending different behaviors and seeing how close we can get to real-life reactions. Click [here] to know more.

🎮 My passion? Video games. They nudged me into experimenting with everything from Game Maker to Unity 3D and Unreal Engine. This experience not only sharpened my skills in virtual environments, virtual agents, and game development, but also opened doors to the captivating world of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Crowd Simulation.

A literature review summarizes the existing research in a chosen field, condensing state-of-the-art knowledge into a single analysis. Unfortunately, literature reviews are highly timeconsuming. In particular, a researcher’s first pass over an entire research corpus can take an enormous amount of time. To mitigate this limitation, this paper proposes a semi-automatic method for classifying paper titles based on how interesting they should be to the researcher. Our method involves selecting keywords, searching databases of papers, preparing training data for a machine learning model, and then finally training, optimizing, and deploying the model to help classify papers. Throughout the paper, we give examples of how we applied our method to support two ongoing literature reviews in the fields of Experience Management and Crowd Simulation. We hope that our method can simplify the similar efforts of others in the future.
