In general, I find that many people do not organize files in the asset pipeline correctly, despite it being Less, Sass, or CoffeeScript. I've done a few talks about this in the past, but I think it is really a core Rails guides topic. Our organization should be no different than say Sass's general best practices. FWIW, I hate how Rails generators even go against the grain of proper asset manifest, etc. But hey, they are generators, what do they know.
