Hm, you're correct, they're not bound. Technically, you can achieve the above by modifying the AppState using a dispatcher, which contains a duplicate of the categories called componentList. However, this would require some refactoring on your part and is probably not quite appropriate (see #488).
I think it's worth exploring binding categories, so it updates when changed.
