Taking attendance manually is a tedious task. Therefore, this product will reduce the task for professors and make it easy for taking attendance on a daily basis. The main idea is to create a hardware product using an Arduino board. A sensor will be connected to the Arduino board which will help the students to enter their fingerprint before every class. It will therefore act as a biometric system. When the student enters a fingerprint, it should be valid so that it can be accepted. For example, if a student from another class tries to enter the fingerprint for a class where he/she is not enrolled in, the system will decline and ask for a valid fingerprint to unlock the system. The fingerprint of a student will be taken twice. Once before entering the class and once after the class is over. In the software section, the information that will be fetched from the biometric system will be stored in a database. The database will be updated regularly. Each student will have a unique student id which will be logged into the database. To view the number of classes attended by a student, an application will be created. This application will allow the students, professors and the guardian of the student to view the attendance. This is however going to be a view only application. No one can manipulate the data.
