i think this is now dealt with using env vars:

this for defining the root dir:
https://github.com/maxfordham/ipyautoui/blob/main/src/ipyautoui/env.py
(required for rendering pdf files, markdown files, anything requiring relative paths...)

this reverts to maplocal if in-use:

ipyautoui/src/ipyautoui/_utils.py
