the exception is probably thrown here inside the CompassElephant library.

could you please add some var_dump on the $process variable (after the run() method) and see the output and the command being executed?

Remember to trigger the compilation of compass by changing the scss/sass file. (maybe I should add a force configuration)

Thank you for that information. Using your suggestion, I was able to identify the problem.

Here is the compass binary path I initially used in the configuration:

compass_binary_path: "C:\Ruby200\bin\compass"

Here is how it was interpreted: - copied from var_dump($process)

["commandline":"Symfony\Component\Process\Process":private]=>
  string(81) "C:^\Ruby20in^\compass compile scss/app.scss --config config.rb --force --boring"

It seems that the usual ' \ ' used as path separators on windows is somehow escaped. Not sure if that is a symfony thing or if its caused by the plugin???

Fortunately, windows accepts both ' / ' and ' \ ' as valid separators in a path, so changing the compass binary path in the configuration to the following solved the problem.

compass_binary_path: "C:/Ruby200/bin/compass"

Maybe it's the escapeshellarg function that do an escape...and the process that escape again. Gonna check this.
