@dpvc is there an urged need for jsdom? Would it work with other libraries such as domino?

Domino says it doesn't process script tags, and that is crucial for MathJax. I have looked around to see if there is another possibility, and the only one that looks like it might work is node-dom but I haven't tried it out. If you know of another DOM implementation that does handle scripting, we can give it a try.

I have not a very good suggestion how to fix that. At least I could build binary packages for ubuntu12 and ubuntu 14 now. Probably there will be a binary ubuntu package for jsdom in the future.

A different but somewhat related question is if we ever want to strive for Rhino + envjs compatibility.

Do we want Rhino + envjs compatibility?

Has there been a request for that? In terms of the code used, there is very little that is specific to jsdom, so I suspect the same framework could be made to work with Rhino and envjs.

Not directly. A sponsor asked about Oxygen's MathML rendering. I wasn't aware they had anything beyond MathFlow compatibility (which tends to re-write MathML so manual tweaks by the sponsor are lost; also the rendering isn't what the output (MathJax) is going to be).

Turns out Oxygen uses jeuclid for MathML rendering (which IIUC only handles MathML 2 and hasn't been updated in years). Rhino+envjs fits naturally in Java environments so it would be easier to plug-in.

But it's really a different project altogether.
