Are you sure this isn't a CM-specific feature? I was under that impression.

I agree. IMHO the issue has nothing to do with Forecastie.

Well, nothing would prevent Forecastie from cooperating with the CM weather API to benefit CM user, but that's a "political" decision where it must be remembered that nothing would change for the majority of non-CM users.

Nothing political. I think that Forecastie and a weather provider are two
totally different things from the CODE point of view. And I'd rather avoid
installing a provider that brings a whole app+widgets with it. Do one thing
but do it well!
That's just my IMHO. The author may think totally differently.

i thought yahoo shutdown their weather provider & i'm pretty sure i saw openweathermap in CM changelogs, maybe i'm confusing things
