I advise you to use a validation on the server using the file because minetype look only at termination of the file name does not mean that the file is an image.
Ex: index.php can be renamed to index.png and executed on the server.
But back to your case the input file contains an array of html, which is picked as follows.
$(this).val(), only works in IE 7 and 8.
It is an excerpt from the plugin itself to get the value of the input file. Lines 169 to 185.

Anyway, the plugin does not interfere in its validation.
