Mhmhhh...It had not even come to my mind that people would exploit png transparency with their avatars hahaha...That's indeed cute.
The way the theme is designed it uses a physical transparency mask for Qt to be able to draw the circle. Else the avatar would just be a rectangle.
It's not impossible, I'm imagining some option to disable the Qt mask and instead use png transparency but it's an effort I'm not able to invest at the moment. Sorry.
