Are the point vertices always integers or do you support floating point values as well? Is there much difference between the polygon and the poly-lines I've been told about?

The point vertices are at the moment always integers. This is mainly for consistency with the position and size of objects in general, which have always been stored in whole pixels. It could be changed in the future of course.
The only difference between a polygon and a polyline is their visual representation. A polygon is drawn implicitly closed and filled, while a polyline is left open and isn't filled.
