All our tests fail anyway, so it wouldn't make a difference. However, benchmarking all compilation could be useful to macro authors as well, to help them check if their creations produce manageable byte code.

Also some people (e.g. paholg and epsilonz) misuse the type system to do ... interesting things 😄, and would certainly benefit from benchmarks to that effect.

That's an interesting idea - currently no such thing is implemented in compiletest (AFAIK)

But I guess you'd only be interested in benchmarking the plugins - not the entire compilation, right? I wonder if rustc's time-passes could be utilized to do this?
