I suspect it's an Ansible version issue. My bet is that 1.1 doesn't recognize the new {{ var }} syntax for doing variable interpolation. Can you try upgrading your local version of Ansible and seeing if that resolves it for you?

Great! I upgraded to ansible 1.5 which seem to have solved the problem.
