Correction: IE9pr3 does support box-shadow, according to QuirksMode.

It does not, however, support gradient backgrounds.

I think IE9 has support for all the functionality of PIE, are you going to release a version that does nothing for ie9?

Thanks

Dave

I don't believe IE9 supports background gradients yet, nor border-image. I could be wrong though as I haven't tried the latest beta.

But yes, PIE beta3 will most likely do nothing for IE9, at least for the short-term.

Please, please, update PIE to support IE9.
I need gradient support, and the box-shadow results in IE9 are just absolute crap!
box-shadows look horrible - they almost look like thick borders.
it really lacks the smooth feathering that every other browser and PIE have.
Can you please update the BLOG on the css3pie website to keep us abreast of developments? I thought life as a designer would finally be easy when I found css3pie, but now the retards at Microsoft screwed me again. why can't they just grab webkit and slap their logo on it, like Google did?

Was wondering your approach to gradients for IE9? Read and article which got me thinking, since IE9 natively supports .svg, why not produce a an svg fill instead based on the non browser vender property linear-gradient???

lojjic avatar lojjic commented on June 16, 2024

Yes the plan is to generate SVG gradients for IE9.

I did find this commit,
a3423c5
and complied the latest from source, but gradients are not working in IE9.
Is that correct, or did I get something wrong in my build?

lojjic avatar lojjic commented on June 16, 2024

The latest code should be working. Make sure you're sending the correct content-type for the htc file, IE9 seems to be much stricter about it than earlier versions.

alanburke avatar alanburke commented on June 16, 2024

I forgot to confirm that setting the correct content type did indeed fix this.
Thanks!

IE9 support is now at parity (or exceeds it) with the IE6-8 implementation. Specifically, linear-gradient and border-image are now implemented in IE9; all other supported features are handled by IE9 natively.

Closing; open new issue tickets for specific bugs related to IE9 support.
