That sounds like a very sensible thing to do. I am not really an expert on the best way to do that -- ideally I want to be compatible with both script usage, and usage inside Jupyter and look good in both. I would welcome suggestions on how best to do that.

You can use standard python logger, example from gensim: https://github.com/RaRe-Technologies/gensim/blob/develop/gensim/models/ldamodel.py#L652
