Today we need to evaluate and then press escape. Perhaps we can support shift+command+enter as a shortcut?

I'd say it's better to keep these separate, most of the time I'd use cmd+enter to evaluate while editing and then just escape once I'm done. Also shift+cmd+enter is the same number of keystrokes as cmd+enter esc (which doesn't require learning another shortcut). Thoughts?

Furthermore, pressing command+enter in a Markdown cell adds a newline... we should probably make it a noop?

Yeah, that's the default cmd+enter behavior in the editor, which we override for evaluation. Making it noop for consistency definitely makes sense!

I find it easier to type with shift but point taken. :) We can revisit this later.

I will close this one and open up an issue on making cmd+enter consistent.
