Installed but not showing in Kwin scripts settings about grid-tiling-kwin HOT 5 CLOSED

hmm yeah it should, it basically needs a folder in /share/kwin/scripts/ such as grid-tiling which then needs to contains the contents folder and the metadata.desktop. This makes the script show up in the KWin script list but this does not show the configure button. To show that one you also need to create a link or copy of the metadata.desktop in /share/kservices5 but then named kwin-script-grid-tiling.desktop.

But I am running on Arch, maybe it's different for other OS. The normal way to install it is to use:

plasmapkg2 --type kwinscript -i grid-tiling

but this would not create a gear icon to access the UI for me (did report it upstream), but you could try that.

I'm on Arch also. I deleted ~/.local/share/kwin/scripts/kpluginindex.json and everything works now. Thanks!

the settings button is hidden for me too.
I'm using arch
Tried to delete kpluginindex.json as suggested but still the button does not show up

Also, is there a way to edit settings manually? right now I'm trying to edit ~/.local/share/kwin/scripts/grid-tiling/contents/config/main.xml but it seems to have no effects on the plugin

EDIT: ok, I copied the .desktop file rather than doing a symbolic link and now it's working. Pretty strage, since the link was indeed correct. Probably using a relative path was problematic somehow, but I dunno

had problems with kali rolling - just copied the kwin-script-grid-tiling.desktop file to /usr/share/kservices5 which wasn't existing in ~/.local/share
