All I'm saying is it would be nice to have some animations for kids and casual players, including that part where at the start of the match we can see each other piece set and board. It's just a nice touch. For pro players is useless ofc but this feature could be under an on/off button so everybody gets what customisation they want.

I was thinking about implementing something like this just the other day, but then I realized how horribly "mobile-gamy" it would look. Just like those useless games that give you prizes and badges and coins and fireworks all the time for twiddling your thumbs.
As for my vote: I can't even play on chess dot com, after I have been using Lichess. My brain just stops and refuses to go further.

Someone likes Chess.com across all their dodgy 'iterations' and issues

Yes I do.
I proposed some ideas here in the past, only to see that chess.com later implemented them in one way or the other ( eg. Issue #7257).
Most users are casual players like myself. Most users want a better UI with sleek subtle animations. See hearthstone vs any other ccg. The better ui always wins.
The more polished the UI the better the software, and chess.com has the more popular UI by far. Why not learn from them? See what works and not and try to implement it into lichess too because its a big win for us all, instead of pointing fingers and say "bruv go play on chess.com faaaanboiii".

Idk but I think you might get some feedback from actual users by posting these ideas on Lichess forums

I don't think that's the case. About every chess player I know prefer the Lichess UI if they've spent some time playing on both, but most casuals don't know about Lichess.

Note: It might be a good idea not to blow up the internet and players' computer processors.

Personally I prefer the Lichess UI - it is easier on the eyes - but as Chesscom is a free platform I prefer their tools and lessons analysis etc. I hate the new chesscom animations though tbf
