Yes, but then one has cd to docs/source/ to view the file when at the command line 😄 I used soft links to make the information in AUTHORS, CHANGES, LICENSE, README.rst, and TODO visible in the root directory for developers to refer to without having to jump to the documentation tree.

haha ok i guess that's one way xD.

hmm i'm wondering how you could do both so it's as easy to see things in the Github interface too... could the accepted answer here work ? http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7250659/python-code-to-generate-part-of-sphinx-documentation-is-it-possible

Possibly, but soft links seem simpler given that the files in question are not changed too frequently.
