CurrencyType about sqlalchemy-utils HOT 2 CLOSED

@kvesteri Perhaps we should make a python-currency (currency is taken on pypi, or maybe babel-currency) for our Currency class. I do like the money library (https://github.com/carlospalol/money).

Couple projects I have now could really use a solid money type in the model layer so I've taken some interest here. If you like the direction above give me 👍 and I'll jump on it.

I really like https://github.com/carlospalol/money, it seems like the best money class for python atm. In the docs of that package the author clearly claims: "There is no need for a currency class" and gives some good arguments. I think we could create a Currency class just for the API intuitiveness. If we implement Money type should it actually be a composite type which would contain two fields: the amount of money (numeric) and currency (string)?

Btw for the sake of simplicity I think we should use Numeric even for PostgreSQL (which has a native money type). There are many debates about this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/15726535/postgresql-which-datatype-should-be-used-for-currency/15729573#15729573
