Update:
Extracting the .tar.gz archive with tar -xzf kukai-darwin-x64_1.3.0.tar.gz gives me following errors:

Reproduction of the error was successful. We setup a clean instance, rebuilt the darwin electron pacakage, tested and replaced the darwin 1.3 release. Issue appeared to be related to how it was compressed. When time permits please download the kukak-darwin-x64_1.3.0.tar.gz to confirm on your end.
