For now I can workaround this by adding a 'clean' step to my Grunt workflow, to remove the copied
.svnfolder.
FYI the workaround I ended up with, was:
- added the kss
templatefolder to my project (this could be automated with Yeoman) - changed the
index.htmltemplate to point totemplate/public - used
Grunttoclean(delete) the redundantgenerated/publicafterkssruns

There's now a prominent warning about the excludeHiddenUnix option on the docs page: https://github.com/ryanmcgrath/wrench-js#possibly-breaking-change-in-v150
So it looks like that option requires wrench 1.5.0.
