This is something that I might look into in the future, but won't have much priority for now.

Ironically enough, if you upload a GIF to the assets, it will animate in the assets. Drag it to the map and it will not. :)
I must admit It would be super cool if I could have an animated background I can think of many things to do with it like flowing rivers and closing portals etc. Not sure how easy that would be to do though, only it would look cool
