Even if Bootstrap didn't exist, I think xs,sm make more sense for these names. Widths for different types of devices aren't this clear cut, meaning, if I wanted to use the desk prefix it may not always apply to a desktop browser. The "shirt size" prefixes are generic enough to work in these grey areas.

@kristoferjoseph I can put a PR together for this; any preference on the approach? I was thinking of adding it as a grunt task, something like grunt bootstrapShim?

@8bitDesigner I am open to a PR that duplicates bootstrap's grid api. I don't want to have two api's though, just replace the old one. If you want to make the other classes ( center etc. ) make sense with your understanding with how the bs grid works that would be ideal. I have been thinking about making this grid have a fallback to the bs grid or a similar table based one so this makes sense in that respect. 🏩
