Seems like there is an issue with using isFocused() || isSelected() as the test for screen items to highlight.
From very quick tests it seems that lists of items can be focused but cannot be selected and only the items themselves can be selected (but likely not focused). This means items are not always both focused AND selected, thus the highlight will drop on the first of the two that it finds, which is not always the item that will actually take keyboard input.
This stresses the need to understand the node as a whole, rather than tracking events on specific views. See #9

It seems like with the new approach to programmatic navigation, tracking the keyboard highlight may be unnecessary since it can instead be forced to follow the Tecla Highlight. Once that happens, this will be a non-issue.
