If the back-end returns a 16 bit image encoded in big endian, the system will throw a NotImplementedException. This needs to be implemented - i.e the bytes pairs need to be swapped.

I tried compile Nsane.Mono ,it couldn't found LocalProcedureCaller.cs. What is LocalProcedureCaller.cs

In mono we can use the local API directly via p/invoke calls. It would be good if this can be used, so you have the full functionality under Mac/Linux. Something like:

Connection.Local(...

Currently it doesn't compile in mono - it should and it should be functionally equivalent to the Windows version (i.e. the remote API should be used).

Some scanners send the image as three frames: one red, one green and one blue. In this case NSane needs to weave the three frames of data together to produce the image.

Currently such an input from a scanner will cause a NotImplementedException to be thrown.
