A made a poorly drafted sketch of what I meant with rounded corners :)

This looks great! exactly what I was looking for.

Think this would look great with a animation like in the Spotify for iOS app when switching to the next track.
@fabi94music I like the round edges quite a lot :)

This is how MiniPlay behaves for example on pause/play. Quite nice. But animation might be difficult.
But it makes not a lot of sense in the current design with the blurred cover, which I actually like a lot.
But maybe a animation for skipping to the next or previous tracks could be nice.

yeah I like the animation a lot, makes it even more aesthetically pleasing.
@kmikiy Oh and i noticed a bug: Cover art is not displayed when WIFI is turned off, although Spotify is in offline mode and the tracks are downloaded and cover is shown in Spotify itself).
Please fix this, cause I use it very often for traveling and have music available offline.

Maybe this could be helpful 🙈

In the Notification Center widget maybe controls similar to the GIF from MINIPLAY (Title and artist, plus play/pause, next and last title, volume) could be displayed separately as an option.
Therefore it would be very customisable (if somebody wants controls extra they can check the option, otherwise controls are displayed via hovering over the album artwork. Additionally there could be an option to display to show/hide the album artwork. These Notification Center widget preferences can be display directly within the Notification Center via the (i) button on title list of the widget (see also MINIPLAY gif on my previous post).
