An application that it will prompt a user for his or her hourly pay rate; his or her hours worked; whether he or she is single, married, divorced, or widowed; calculating the user’s gross and net pay. Overtime is calculated at 1 ½ times the regular rate and displayed separately. A flat tax rate of 15% is applied if married; if single, 22% is applied; if divorced, 23% is applied; and if widowed, 13% is applied.
A small networking program that develops a functioning web server called TINY, that uses process controls, Unix I/O, the sockets interface and HTTP, though lacks standard security protocols. The web server, serves both a static and dynamic content to real web browsers.

An application, using a solution algorithm that employs loops, that keeps track of customers purchases. The application accepts the dollar value of each item purchased as input until finished. When purchases are complete, a sentinel value of -1 is entered to indicate the process has finished. If the item purchased is $50.00 or more, a 10% discount on the item purchased is applied. All purchases display with the original price and the discount price.

An application, using a solution algorithm that uses arithmetic expressions and built-in functions, that determines the total seating charges for any game held at a stadium; with a tiered seating structure, consisting of lower-level seating at $25.00 per seat, mid-level seating at $15.00 per seat, and upper-level seating at $10.00 per seat. The algorithm asks for the number of seats being purchased in each seating level, then determines the total for each level, and a grand total for the entire purchase.

An application, using a solution algorithm that uses logical and relational expressions, that calculates the percentage and final grade for students in a class. The application will prompt to enter the students first and last name, and the number of points the student received. The application only accepts scores between 0 and 1,000 points (including 0 and 1,000), with 1,000 points being the maximum number of points. If the input value is within the valid range, the program will display a “good score” message; otherwise, the program will display an error message and then terminate the program. The program then calculates the score percentage and then displays the student’s first name, last name, number of points, calculated percentage, and final grade.

The application prompts for a letter to be entered, when the letter is entered, it is checked against a list of valid character data types; if not correct, an error with a letter encryption is displayed; if correct, a message with the letter displays within the letter encryption.
