I've slacked you a link @yetudada in case you have time to pick up this one for visual improvements. Otherwise I'll take a crack at the work when I've completed #19
from kedro-devrel.
@yetudada I've reviewed this one and am happy to hand to @astrojuanlu for next level review (I can't assign to him yet as he's not in the team)
from kedro-devrel.
One thing I noticed is that conda
doesn't work on Repl.it out of the box: it tries to install it using Nix but then this results in a borked installation:
~/TestingReplit$ which conda
~/TestingReplit$ conda
conda: command not installed. Multiple versions of this command were found in Nix.
Select one to run (or press Ctrl-C to cancel):
Adding python39Packages.conda to replit.nix
success
/nix/store/3dvcszbm6r3n0ngnxcp264xdq1r88n5l-python3.9-conda-4.3.16

If your intention is to install conda as a standalone application, currently
supported install methods include the Anaconda installer and the miniconda
installer. You can download the miniconda installer from
https://conda.io/miniconda.html.

I tried installing miniconda with the official method instead, but I'm finding several problems:
- It's taking a toll on the environment resources - in the end the command succeeded, but I'm not sure if there's a risk that our Repl.it session gets cut off
- There's a warning about an existing
PYTHONPATH
variable - after a couple of quick tests I didn't spot any problem though - After installation, an
exec $SHELL
is required - The installation doesn't persist if the user opens another shell - might have to do with Nix (not familiar with it) or how Repl.it shells work
There might be a better way of doing all this, but until we find it we should be careful of what we ask the students to do.

Gave a thorough pass at the dependency management slides, exercise still missing. Will hold off any further edits until we discuss the conda situation in Repl.it.

This is done.
