Does the field <package.name>.R.drawable.iconexists within the application?
It works for me without any issue. You could debug the methods getIcon and getIconValue in Options.java to find out the reason.

<package.name>.R.drawable.icon does not exists within the application, but it is not "ensure" by phonegap?
I'm a web developer not exper in java, how can I "import" <package.name>.R.drawable.icon in the plugin?....
I'm using phonegap 3.2...

Ok, solved....
I was building locally not using external phongap building...now it works...
from cordova-plugin-local-notifications.
