It throws an error:

JSLint also calls it a “bad operator” :)

So using the minified version of Underscore should error as it strips the () away:
https://github.com/documentcloud/underscore/blob/master/underscore-min.js am I right?

Minifiers almost always break code for Adobe JS engine, so I do not use them. And yes, in this case it fails somewhere in the second line.

Cool thanks you for digging into that for me.

BTW does Lo-Dash, the drop-in Underscore.js replacement, work for you?
I noticed its minified version still has () around the problem snippet.

Development version:

Production version:

Minfied version fails with the same error: there some issues with optimisation of if statements.
Development version doesn't throw an error, but after simple replacement of underscore with lodash script runs and does nothing silently.

I use these methods in the script:

_.each
_.isEqual
_.last
_.range
_.reduce
_.times

I wonder if Adobe restricts the us of Function(...) have you ever tried using Underscore's compiled _.templates?

// using Underscore
var compiled = _.template("<% print('Hello ' + epithet); %>");
console.log(compiled({epithet: "stooge"}));
// => "Hello stooge."

No, I'll check it and let you know.

@kapooostin I figured out what the problem is. Lo-Dash should now work in InDesign:

Yes, it does!
