Hi, I'm currently actively using Kando on Hyprland with Arch Linux. And haven't had any problems after my first setup. I am using the AUR package kando-bin
on the current latest version 0.5.0
and have the following lines in my config file related to kando:
windowrule = noblur, Kando
windowrule = noborder, Kando
windowrule = noanim, Kando
windowrule = center, Kando
windowrule = size 100% 100%, Kando
bind = super CTRL, Space, global, kando:main_menu
A possible troubleshooting step might be checking the output of hyprctl globalshortcuts
to see if the trigger is correctly registered by Kando:
kando:main_menu -> Trigger the Kando's Main Menu menu
with the default config this should result in:
kando:prototype_menu -> Kando - Prototype Menu
from kando.
I am glad that you fixed it. I will soon write some platform-specific documentation with some trouble-shooting hints like this!
@o-y Does this also fix the issue on your end?
from kando.
Ah, that's also fixed my issue. I was still using kando:prototype_trigger
rather than kando:prototype_menu
.
Thanks for your help all, and what an awesome project @Schneegans!
from kando.
Hi there! The name of the trigger in the Hyprland config must correspond to the menu name. So it should be bind = CTRL, Space, global, kando:prototype_menu
. I'll soon write some corresponding documentation...
Does this help?
from kando.
Hey! I've also tried explicitly adding bind = CTRL, Space, global, kando:prototype_menu
, however that also doesn't work.

Are you sure? Is Kando running? Because I am pretty sure that it should work. In fact, the issue before this one here, #323, was on the exact same thing and the user managed to get it working.

Hi, I'm having the same problem using Hyprland-git on Arch Linux (EndeavourOS). I followed the same instructions from pull #245, so I don't think that is the issue.
I've tried using the prebuilt binary, and I've also tried the AUR package
from kando.
Thank you for the hyprctl globalshortcuts tip!
Copy-pasting the trigger that it printed to the keybind in my hyprland config fixed it.
Turns out it was a typo... I feel a bit dumb rn haha
