Hi there! Thank you for getting in touch! Could you maybe elaborate a bit more in detail why you think that this is a good idea and how this should happen?
In the future, Kando will not only have one menu, but the user can configure an arbitrary amount of menus. For each menu, there will be a separate shortcut. You can read more about the upcoming menu editor here. So the user will want to define a hotkey for each menu. Why shouldn't this be handled by Kando?
Besides, I am not aware of a platform-independent way of registering global shortcuts in a way that the WM could define the shortcut.

Menu should be able to be spawned directly via a command like kando --menu menuname
, that would allow to have external app (like WM) to open Kando
Also having the app managing the keybind is not compatible with Wayland so it's needed.
