Hi,
I just wanted to contribute with the question in terms of oversized binaries.
I wrote a simple Instagram web scraper using Cascadia.jl and JSON.jl, the startup time (JIT warm up) is 7 seconds and then i get super fast executions, i then created a snoopfile to avoid this warm up and used build_executable() to create an executable, everything seems to be working great with no long first execution times. But the whole build/ folder is 450MB, and Scraper.exe is 366KB which is fine but Scraper.dll is 151MB plus a bunch of other big xxx.dll files.
- Am i doing something wrong ?
- is it possible to build a simple and small command line tool in Julia and distribute it as a simple and small program that anyone can download and use ?
I'm using Julia 1.1.0 (2019-01-21) and PackageCompiler v0.6.3
from packagecompiler.jl.
